“中国戏曲剧种，已从上世纪50年代初期统计的368个，锐减至2005年统计的267个。就算是被奉为‘国粹’的京剧，其危机也并未消除。”在日前举办的“中国戏曲剧种保护发展”研讨会上，中国艺术研究院京剧研究中心主任秦华生告诉记者。
不少专业京剧演员生活窘困
自2004年起，中国京剧院的刘秀荣便作为全国政协京昆考察团成员，对昆曲、京剧艺术进行过专题考察和调研。她告诉记者：“在外地的省市京剧院团，普遍生存困难：资金紧缺、设备陈旧；节目贫乏，缺少名角儿，没有观众；演员人数少，工资低，流失严重。”据她介绍，在内蒙古京剧团，现在仅有演员8名，要演出必须外借演员，而“这个京剧表演名家李万春及其子李小春当年所在的剧团，曾以《草原英雄小姐妹》轰动文艺界”。
被划入演艺圈的京剧演员的生活现状与外人的想象悬殊，用清贫来形容京剧演员一点也不为过。“老艺术家袁世海生前每月工资2000多元，这已经算高的了，群众演员的工资400多元，有些老艺术家至今依然住在上世纪50年代‘干打垒’的房子里。在宁夏，有一位演猴戏的当家武生演员曾经为生计而去做划玻璃的小工。”
专家建议把京剧纳入基础教育
自上世纪90年代至今，京剧院团及京剧艺术发展在市场经济冲击下遇到了阻力。京剧艺术面临着多元文化娱乐消费形式的竞争，市场空间不断被压缩。“有些人认为流行歌曲时髦，歌剧洋派，京剧土气，这完全是对民族文化的认同感和信心不足造成的。现在许多电视台都有时尚类节目，甚至专门辟出相关频道，可戏曲类节目有多少？”
在全国政协京昆考察团团长任玉岭看来：“看一门艺术的好坏不应该以观众的多寡作为评价标准，我们不否认观众的多少对艺术优劣的重要性，对传统艺术，尤其是曾经在中华民族文化产生过程中发挥重要作用的京剧等戏曲门类，仅用今天观众的多寡来评价其优劣是不准确的，是偏见的。”研讨会上，不少专家倡导在大、中、小学校开设以京剧为主的戏曲欣赏课，从小培养京剧观众。
