“海盐腔”有关的资料，从民间收集了100余册原始手抄唱本和100余万字的口碑、录音资料，将会唱骚子的民间艺人20余位老人集中在一起，经过专家鉴定，剥离出唱曲中的“海盐腔”遗音，并组织召开过了我国首次“海盐腔”学术研讨会，邀请江西、湖南、上海、江苏的专家学者共同探讨研究“海盐腔”的形成、发展、兴衰及其音乐特征。几百年来，对“海盐腔”的高度重视还是第一次，引起国内外专家的关注。
2002年南北湖旅游节期间，海盐县政府把目前全国唯一能用“海盐腔”演唱的专业剧团请来参加“2002年中国海盐南北湖旅游节”，使“海盐腔”第一次回到娘家。那天细雨纷纷，1500多名海盐人冒雨观看，竟无一人离场，那玉嗓珠喉、轻歌曼舞演绎出的《游园惊梦》，令海盐人如痴如醉，沉溺古腔神韵之中。目前，“海盐腔”艺术馆的筹建在有条不紊地进行着。
列为省第一批抢救对象
据了解，“海盐腔”已被专家建议列为浙江省民间民族文化保护的第一批抢救对象。目前，“海盐腔”艺术馆筹备组已成为一个联络点，约稿、对外交流、收集历代、文章，编写成《海盐腔研究》，然后送到有关部门领导、专家、学者手中。许多外地的学者听说后，还纷纷来信索取。有台湾学者、专家在收到此书后，还特地把自己在戏曲方面的研究专著邮寄过来，以作交流。
最近，一名研究“海盐腔”的江西学者用铅笔手写了整整34张方格子的曲谱寄过来，又陆续提供了近20篇有关“海盐腔”的研究文稿。“海盐腔”在江西最早发现和研究者之一肖洪专家也专门来信。他说，相信“海盐腔”研究事业一定会兴旺发达。
